Doc Reno Brings Charity Events To Margate

Doc Reno’s 7th Annual Wingsfest returns to Margate for a second year and Meatball Mania will be here in March.

Doc is a well-known radio personality in South Florida, best known for hosting the afternoon drive show on iHeart’s Classic Rock Big 105.9 Miami for over two decades. His career in radio spans an impressive 39 years, showcasing his deep roots in the world of broadcasting and his passion for rock and roll. Originally from Cleveland, the “Rock and Roll capital of the world,” Reno has embraced Margate and South Florida as his home.

Reno’s life took a turn when he was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer several years ago. Despite the grueling treatments, he continued to work, never missing a day on air during his radiation and chemotherapy. This dedication reflects his strong connection with his listeners and his commitment to his work.

In response to his own battle with cancer and the struggles he witnessed among other families dealing with the disease, Reno founded the My Family Matters Foundation in the fall of 2018. The foundation, in partnership with Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital Foundation, focuses on assisting South Florida families with cancer-related costs not covered by insurance. It supports various expenses and services needed while a child is undergoing treatment.
